Put The Black Away

What’s gone is gone.

These dead things you can’t stop trying to raise,
For hollow happiness and the sound of empty praise,
I believe in resurrection too, heaven does put on a show,
But Lazarus was a miracle, how many more do you know?

These ghosts of your past you keep trying to reach,
Necromancy of the heart, you’ll do anything for love,
Any whisper at the seance could be proof of life, you preach,
It’s a shame, how quick you become a fool for love.

You’re no man’s saviour yet you bleed for a lost cause,
Put yourself through hell for a glory you cannot touch,
You’re the knife and the sacrifice, made a stream from your own blood,
You brought your own tears on, now I can barely bear to watch.

Turn off the sadness, there’s no grieving left to do,
No one died, only you can make this a suicide,
Somebody left, but you’re left with a lot of you,
Their loss is not yours, put the black away for good.
