The factors cause a need for reduction to attain octa. Perhaps in biology it is better to have mega than mina. Reductio ad absurdum… but not the fallacious kind. If you yourself reduce, can you…

The Imaginary Limitations of Modern Technology

Breaking Our Physical Limitations

I will start by exposing the reader to a truth that may be uncommon to the general public. The limitations that we face in our physical reality are scientifically biased.

Let me explain.

There is no way to truly prove or disprove any theory in science, physics, or even mathematics. Theoretically, there exist alternate scientifically acceptable laws and systems whose internal logic is consistent and predictable. Let’s consider a theoretical landscape to be a set of scientific laws consistent and verifiable within the framework of an alternate reality.

Our definition may seem to alienate our current understanding of physics and undermine the intellectual authority that we appear to have over our universe. However, what if I tell you that the current set of systems that we have in place to explain the reality around us is, in itself, a landscape.

Our understanding of today’s physics is merely a lack of contradicting evidence. And if I am speaking too abstractly, let me put it in more concrete terms:

Physics is reactionary. It simply explains what is observable, and attempts to predict based on prior observations. There is no guarantee that we have the complete picture. Scientific Laws may need to be rewritten based on what we observe, because ultimately, the only Law is the universe itself, which is subject to change its observable reality on a whim.

What does that mean?

It means that one day, our top physicists declare that light speed travel is impossible. Their explanation? The mass of an object increases to a point of singularity (along an axiom towards infinity) as it approaches the speed of light. The next day we may discover a particle that travels faster than the speed of light, whose mass is shared across space and creates a black hole.

There’s no telling what lies at the edge of scientific discovery.

Just recently in an experiment a breach was made in one of our sacred “Laws” that contradicts the Second Law of Thermodynamics. The law states that in a system where energy can neither enter nor exit, the entropy is non-decreasing. The entropy in a system is the measure of relative “chaos”, i.e. the ordering and relative nature of particles.

The experiment involves the creation of something called an “Information Engine”, which is simply a mechanism designed to transfer information across internally closed systems.

They’re calling the Information Engine “Maxwell’s Demon”. In the experiment, the movement of a particle trapped by light is determined by the fluctuation of heat within the system. The fluctuation of heat caused by the light covering the particle gives information when converted into “work” that is readable and predictable when taken over many iterations. Whenever the particular makes significant distance in any direction, the movement is tracked by a photodiode, and the light trapping the particle travels with it.

Think of it like a bubble that allows humans to breathe in space, and it moves with its occupant whenever they take a step forward so that the occupant can keep moving.

This in effect creates a system where a particle moves on its own and can be directed by a computer without losing energy or data in the conversion to work. Work is done on the particle without the conversion being made within the system.

Now you may wonder what is the significance of this lossless conversion to work. Well, this gives an efficiency of possibly 100% when transferring data through work, which means that computer systems can be more effective when passing information. On a large scale this can completely change the landscape of computing in modern technology:

Moreover, this kind of discovery lends to an amendment of the original law, which illustrates our point.

Current laws in physics and technology are subject to change. We are working off of our own systems of understanding that merely preserve their own internal logic and seek to imitate the reality in which we all take part.

Scientific Theory, as we know, it is not set in stone.

It is merely pending approval.
